About the Role

Are you a passionate Occupational Therapist looking to make a meaningful difference? Join our dedicated healthcare team in Sint Maarten and help improve the quality of life of our clients through impactful, client-centered care.

In this full-time, on-site role, you will work autonomously while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team. You will assess clients’ needs, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing daily functioning and independence. Your work will support clients with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and physical or mental developmental delays.

Key Responsibilities will include:
Assessment & Diagnosis: Evaluate and diagnose clients, consult with specialists when needed, advise on referrals, and develop and coordinate individualized treatment plans with relevant stakeholders.

Treatment & Intervention: Deliver occupational therapy treatments, conduct therapy sessions and home visits, prepare reports, and support the application or development of ergonomic tools. Monitor client progress, adapt treatment plans as needed, and actively support client well-being.

Documentation & Education: Accurately document patient progress, maintain clear records, and educate clients and their families on therapeutic practices and strategies.

Collaboration & Quality Improvement: Participate in team discussions, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, stay informed on occupational therapy trends and policies, and provide guidance or training related to OT tools and best practices.

Autonomous Practice: Manage your own caseload while contributing to the overall success of the treatment plans and the wider healthcare team.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy and valid professional licensing

  • Experience in assessing client needs and developing treatment plans

  • Strong skills in providing therapeutic interventions and conducting therapy sessions

  • Proficiency in documentation and maintaining accurate patient records

  • Experience or strong affinity with clients with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and developmental delays

  • Affinity with sensor-motoric integration and/or a neurological approach

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and advise other professionals on treatment approaches

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to educate and support patients and their families

  • Drivers license B;

  • Good command of the English language is required; knowledge of Spanish, Dutch or French is a plus.
