Covid-19 update

Updated: Jan 11, 2022

The WYCCF is sad to report that we found 4 infections with covid-19 among clients in our care. Even though all possible precautions were taken and strict protocols are adhered to, 3 of our nursing home clients and 1 client in our rehabilitation center have tested positive for covid-19. After the PCR test results came in, the family of the infected clients were informed and CPS was notified immediately. Source and contact tracing has been done and the foundation continues to test clients and staff, as we have been doing continuously since last year. A separate section in our nursing home is dedicated to give high quality care to our infected residents and maximum treatment is offered to assist them in their recovery.

Only 1 of these 4 clients was partially vaccinated and 3 were not vaccinated and it is important to mention this as vaccination is crucial to keep our vulnerable clients safe. With the Delta variant of the coronavirus being dominant on our island, we urge everyone to vaccinate. Our clients, our staff and their loved ones. The vaccine offers very good protection against severe disease, hospitalization and death and will help slow the spread of this dangerous virus on our island.

Family members can make use of video calling to have contact with their loved ones and to get updates on their recovery. The number to call is + 1 721 5264929. If you have any questions or concerns, you can also contact me on + 1 721 5484431, extension 740.
