Our nurses are the backbone of healthcare. They selflessly provide care, advice, and support all year round. And therefore, on International Nurses Day, we thank and celebrate them!
The board of the WYCCF treated their nurses of the Sint Martin’s Home and District Nursing to an extensive brunch catered by Viola Stevens and a movie pass for Caribbean Cinemas. The nurses of the Sister Basilia Center received a plant from Mooi and a personalized keychain. Royal Funeral Home showed their appreciation to our hardworking nurses by donating a rose to each nurse. A large cake was donated by Carl ‘n Sons, and Captain D’s Ribshack also donated some roses for our nurses to enjoy.
Each department received a bouquet of flowers from the WYCCF board to honor the hard work they do all year round, and even the honorable Minister of VSA, Omar Ottley, paid a visit to the WYCCF.
In the evening, the nurses enjoyed a celebratory dinner at the Tiki Hut sponsored by Kreative Juice. Our own Sandra Hassell and Sharisa Joseph took home the prize for best dressed in the theme Caribbean elegance.
And that was ONLY YESTERDAY! But International Nurses week was celebrated the entire last week. With a ceremonial opening on the Boardwalk last Friday and a cultural night here at the WYCCF on Saturday. A Lecture night on Monday, a Scavenger hunt on Tuesday, where our Head of Operations, Bregje Boetekees, and her team, the ‘’Pink Ladies’’, won first prize! The second prize went to the Bloomers and the third prize to the DN Happiness team. Wednesday was Movie night!
And just when you think that the week is over and done, the honorable Minister Ottley donated lunchboxes to all the nurses of the WYCCF today. We want to thank the Minister for this kind and delicious donation to the team!
Nurses advocate health promotion, educate clients and the public on preventing illness and injury, provide care, and participate in rehabilitation and support. No other professional has such a broad and far-reaching role!
